Drugs are bad mmmmK

I can't make my mind up on this film. It’s very well shot, beautifully designed, brilliantly acted.
But the story has no plot...... well it does, but very little in the way of a driving narrative.
From what I understand it has little to do with the book it’s based on, which is supposedly hard to follow anyway.

The only thing I really gained from this viewing is that drugs are bad.

It seems to be drug humour. Imagine train spotting with a sci-fi twist and a dash of abstract artistic flair.

It’s great to look at but that’s about it, and that’s not a bad thing in cinema.

Salo or The 120 Days of Sodom (1975)

Starring: Paolo Bonacelli, Giorgio Cataldi
Director: Pier Paolo Pasolini, Pier Paolo Pasolini

Shock Factor 10/10!

It’s neither because I didn’t understand the films sexual and political undertones nor because I find it to be un-engaging or un-watchable, that I disliked the film, it’s because it shows a whole new low. Never again will I be shocked by a piece of cinema, let alone one that depicts fascist, sexual and mental torture.

It’s easy to look at this film and see perverse artistic pornography, but the very fact that it disgusts rather than arouses contradicts this.

I may dare you to watch it, I may dare you to try and enjoy it.

But I also dare you not feel anything as you watch.
