Chinatown (1974)

Starring: Jack Nicholson, Faye Dunaway, John Huston
Director: Roman Polanski
Certificate: Certificate: 15

Something else Jack Nicholson Kicked A! in.

This is a great film. It has a clever script, superb direction and brilliant acting.

But that’s not to say it doesn’t have its faults.
It feels incredibly slow at times. This mostly builds up tension, to great effect, however there are certain points that ultimately lead to an anti-climax. And many people will feel cheated with this.

At the end of the day it’s a very well made noir film, yeah its not to everyone’s tastes, (the bleak ending, will not rouse any joy what so ever) but not everyone enjoys noir or being slowly drawn in to the mystery over time, but if you do give China Town the time it deserves and you will not be disappointed!

Batman Begins (2005)

NANANANANANANANANA BATMAN!!!!!
Starring: Christian Bale, Katie Holmes, Cillian Murphy
Director: Christopher Nolan
Certificate: Certificate: 12
Ok so Batman Begins? Right off the BAT I can say that it’s great!

Very Dark, like other batman films, but this one brings us a more realistic tone. Instead of being dark in colour it’s dark in mood and setting.

The acting is great and the plot brings batman to a more grown up audience. Everything about this film is trying to mature the franchise, and it does it well.

However as a Batman fan I do have a few minor gripes with the film the main one being that; The Scarecrow (being one of the only villains that come close to rival The Joker) is only in the film for a few minutes at most! And the tumbler is the only Batmobile that didn't really do it for me.

But like I said minor.

Great action, great plot, great direction and good acting.
All in all a dam good film.
