Number 28

Seven (1995) - David Fincher

On the surface this is just another cliched crime thriller, but in its roots it is way more than you'll first think.

It's a dark depressing story of two cops chasing a killer who's murders are based upon the seven deadly sins. Throw in a very great shock ending, mix it up with some superb writing/directing/acting and BAMBALAM!!! you got a film that is more of a rollercoaster than X-no way out.

It's a must for anyone in to their crime/thriller films. A definite for any noire fanatics And an Absolute YES PLEASE for anyone in to the darker feeling films (I'm thinking anyone who likes Empire over Jedi).

I Really don't know what else to say, Fincher just got it right.

Open Your Eyes (1997) - Alejandro Amenabar

Remember that film with Tom cruse? you know Vanilla Sky? The one you kinda liked but felt as if you'd missed some thing?

This is it! don't get me wrong I LOVE Vanilla Sky. But Open your eyes is the film that it was based off and for some reason it just seems to make more sense, even if it is all in Spanish.
I read some where that Alejandro Amenabar, wanted to make a Sic-Fi film without relying on special FX's and fancy sets. He more than accomplishes this.

In fact what he created was a film that dragged you in with its Thriller style story of blurred reality. Treated you like crap with the cheap scares and scarred faces. And at the end of it made you realise this was never a love story but a Science fiction film that leaves you wanting a little more, but feeling guilty that you enjoyed it.

A Night At the Opera (1935) - The Marx Bros.

Taking the age of this film into consideration, It still makes me laugh!
Part of the charm about this film is that it is old AND stupid. So many modern comedies owe so much to A Night at the Opera;
The Slapstick,
The Musical,
The one liners,
The Sarcasm,
The Facial expressions.

It's easy to say that without any of the Marx Bros. films we'd have no;
Life of Brian, Anchor Man or Airplane!
But what makes opera so special? The fact that it actually made me cry with laughter and got me absolutely hooked on The Marx Brothers, that's what.

Black Dynamite (2009)

I was not really keen on watching Black Dynamite to start with, 3 minutes in and I was crying with laughter.

Starring
Nicole Sullivan, Michael Jai White, Salli Richardson, Mykelti Williamson
Director Scott Sanders
Genres Action/Adventure, Comedy, Thriller
Certificate 15

After it was recommended to me by some friends, I figured what have I got to lose.

But I tell you every second of this film is absolutely hysterical.

It really is the perfect spoof film, its a great throw back to the 70's marital arts films.

There is action scene's that will make you laugh, sex scene's that will make you laugh even some visual gags that will make you laugh.

Do yourself a favor and watch this awesome Very funny film.
